Fabric structures are the order of the day. With better durability, alternate uses, new wave material, portability and low maintenance cost, it is one of the most desirable construction choices in our recent times.

Fabric construction is being increasingly used for various purposes across large and small scale industries by users. However, in order to use it optimally we need to know some of the basic facts of this particular construction technology.

Take a look at this list of the same.

Diverse applications: An important application of fabric buildings is the array of alternate uses it can be employed for. The special technique fibers with which these buildings are made are examples of improved engineering and technical know-how in the field of construction and hence are aided with many attributes which make it unique. Some of the many fields where this latest construction technology can be successfully implemented are housing, warehouses for industrial equipment, aerospace project, mining operations etc. Fabric buildings can also include steel frames in its texture to incorporate off set peaks, canopies, mono slope floors and more.

High Durability: With or without the use of rigid steel frames fabric buildings are very durable and resistant to work with. They are manufactured with essential elements of tensile etc which make it weather proof. The ripstop fabric which is also used makes it additionally strong and tough for heavy and harsh industrial use. Rigid frame designs also go a long way in supporting additional weightage of conveyors and cranes on the structures. Elements like fungicide resistant fabrics are often used to prevent the growth of molds and keep the structure dirt and germ free in the event of floods and storms etc.

Energy efficiency: The texture of the fabric building is naturally non-conductive and hence maintain and manipulate temperatures in a way which keeps the interior hot on cold days and cold on hot days. The costs associated with heating or cooling a steel or concrete building is normally higher than fabric buildings. The latter being energy efficient it does not retain the heat from the sun, instead maintains the inner temperature better. Fabric buildings also allow 12% translucency to allow natural lights inside thus eliminating the need for artificial lighting inside for the longest time. Solar panels are a part of this energy efficient package.

Recyclability: The fabric texture is mostly made of recycled elements which can further be used by recycling. Many fabric manufacturers work with external recyclers to process used membranes for using in new products. That is an ever productive cycle where a fabric user can re-use the material even after the end of the fabric life cycle. Conventionally a good PVC fabric lasts more than 20 to 30 years, allowing reskinning and reroofing of the same again. The polyethylene material that is used in such constructions are supposed to be a low toxin emitting building material.
